European championships, and five World Championships, culminating in him being the England Team Captain and Manager for the 2003 World Championships in Spain.

About Marc Bale
Marc Bale is International Sales Director for Sage, RIO and Redington.
Marc began his career as an independent rep for Sage, then moved inhouse in 1989 as Sage’s first Sales Manager. He remained in that role until 1994 when he became the Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Sage, and then for Redington when Sage acquired Redington in 2003, and then again for RIO when they were acquired by Sage in 2005.
As Marc says, “This is a roundabout way of saying that I’ve been around the Sage company in one capacity or another for over 30 years. I also have the dubious distinction, uncorroborated of course, of having been in more specialty fly fishing shops than anyone in the world.
I saw the original Sage ownership change from the founders Don Green and Bruce Kirshner in 1994 to the present ownership, the Joshua Green Corporation in Seattle.
Of late I have also seen the acquisition of the Fly Water Travel Company as well as the bringing on of a major new category specializing in flies. The company has grown twenty-fold during my tenure.
Having grown up in Michigan, I am a lifelong fly fisherman, having been taught by my father on the Pere Marquette River.
I owe a big debt to Ray Bergman, whose book Trout sustained me during a long misspent childhood. I have been lucky to have been afforded the opportunity to fish all over the world, a gift I don’t take.
If I had one day left to fish, my choice would vacillate between wading a fine, lonely bonefish flat or fishing a remote steelhead river in British Columbia in the Fall. But frankly any fly fishing is better than no fly fishing, and I would be equally happy chasing just about any species as long as it involved a fly rod. I also feel incredibly fortunate to have spent my career working in this industry
