Arrangements for our trip to Tasmania next February are now complete and the Notice of Event follows this note. Fishing in Tasmania has seen a great improvement over the past couple of seasons. A small contingent of members has just returned from Hayes on Brumby’s and they had a great week catching trout to 3 pound in the lakes along with fish from the rivers taken on dry flies.
John hardly needs any introduction.
He joined the VFFA in 1970 and has been a hard-working and very significant contributor ever since. He was editor of the newsletter for 13 years, was president for the period 2002 – 2004, and was endorsed as a Life Member in 2004.
Kristina and Adam are well known in the Australian fly fishing world. Among other significant contributions both have written articles for FlyLife and other publications. They moved to New Zealand some years ago, and commenced a trout guiding operation – Stray South Fishing Outfitters – a few months ago. Here is Adam’s introduction to their world.

Members are reminded that the September meeting will be our AGM. It’s still a few weeks away, but President Mike Jarvis is keen to remind us that all financial members are eligible for nomination and election to the Council.
This year’s annual dinner is on Friday, August 24, and will be held at the Kelvin Club. The cost is again $70 for members and their guests, and an invitation is included in Fly Lines and all members with email addresses.
Our guest speaker for the evening is Peter Morse, who is well-known to many of us.
At the July meeting Terry George will be telling us about the work of the Australian Trout Foundation.
Terry is a VFFA member and has been president of the ATF for some years now. He still runs his own business while at the same time giving hours of his personal free time to the work and projects of the ATF.
Due to some personal commitments changes to the June speaker will be John Douglas from VFA ( Vic Fish) and Terry George from ATF will speak at our July 19th.
John is a Fisheries Manger with the Victorian Fisheries Authority. He has over three decades of experience in fisheries and fisheries management.
